STUDIO ETIQUETTE & TIPS
PLEASE...
- Arrive at least 10-15 minutes before class begins.
- Remove shoes and store bags and miscellaneous items in reception area.
- Please turn off cell phone ringers or notifications before class.
- Refrain from wearing strong perfumes, colognes or strong scented body lotions. Some members have sensitivities to smell.
- Speak in quiet tones before class. We love when you connect with friends! But please respect those members who come early and enjoy sitting quietly before class.
- Try to unroll your mat and set up your space as quietly as possible.
- It’s okay if you need to use the washroom during class.
- If you have any injuries or issues that might affect your practice, please let your teacher know so that he/she/they is aware.
TIPS...
- Do not eat a large meal before practice. Wait at least 2 hours after eating to do yoga.
- Wear comfortable clothing that won’t chafe the body with movement.
- If you run cold, have a warmer shirt or sweatshirt with you for the beginning and end of class.
- Unless you are in a gentle class like Yin or Restorative, remove socks so your feet can have a solid grip on your mat.
- Yoga mats are an individual preference, but some things to look for are: thickness (1/4” min.) for ample cushioning under knees and hands; grip so that hands and feet don’t slide during a more dynamic practice; and, durability, so your mat won’t fall apart after a few uses.
- Have yoga props handy (blocks, blanket, bolster) for support during class. Even if you don’t end up using them, it’s nice to have them handy just in case.
