Balance Yoga owner, Katera Zappacosta, brings a fascination with human physiology and the therapeutic effects of yoga to her teachings. Katera is a RYT-200, and is currently pursuing a 500-hour Therapeutic Specialist certification with Yoga Medicine®. Katera believes that yoga can be an invaluable adjunct to many healing programs, and enjoys working with health care specialists to create yoga-specific programs for her clients.
Katera also relies on the wisdom of the natural world in her teachings, integrating the Five Elements, the 12 Meridians and natural history into her classes. She also enjoys taking yoga out of the studio and into the outdoors through guided meditation walks and nature retreats. She is passionate about the health benefits of having a supportive community, and sees the yoga studio as one place where this can be offered.
Katera has specific training in Mindful, Trauma-Informed Yoga, Yin Yoga, and yoga as it applies to Mental Health and the Nervous System.
It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.
